The Saskatoba Coal Project is located along the Saskatchewan/Manitoba border, encompassing 10 properties totalling 120,000 hectares (1,200 sq. km).  The project is situated in the immediate area of several recent coal discoveries of previously unknown coal intersections varying in thickness from 10m to 100m.

The Saskatoba Coal Project is a joint-venture with Swift Resources Inc. (SWR: TSX.V).  Saturn maintains a 60% interest in the project with Swift maintaining the remaining 40%.  Saturn is the operator of the project.

The Saskatoba Project is situated within the 'Durango Coal Trend', a northwest/southeast belt extending throughout the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Regional infrastructure is excellent.  The Town of Hudson Bay is located near the center of the project area, from which Provincial Highway 9 and a CN railroad transect.  The CN railroad provides access to the port of Churchill, Manitoba.  A 230kv power line is also in place in addition to significant water resources.

The coal deposits in the Hudson Bay region, in respect to coal thickness, quality and deposit geometry are unique.  This has a specific implication on an effective exploration model.  The importance of structural controls in exploration, combined with explicit geophysical signatures, are determining factors in the successful discovery of coal hosting sub-basins in the area.  Given these controls, the 2009-2010 exploration of the Saskatoba Coal Project will be conducted in four-phases.

Phase 1 | Ground based gravity survey in Saskatchewan (complete)

Phase 2 | Airborne Fugro GEOTEM survey in Saskatchewan & Manitoba (complete)

Phase 3 | Technical Report with recommended drill program (complete)

Phase 4 | Drill Program (complete)

Data obtained from the geophysical exploration of the Saskatoba properties have returned anomalies in transient electromagnetic field (GeoTEM) consistent with those obtained over known bodies of coal at near-by deposits.  The ground gravity survey carried out on the Armit and Erwood blocks also returned gravity anomalies consistent with the presence of coal.  The larger of these anomalies are coincident with some of the anomalies identified by the GeoTEM survey.  As per these results, Saturn has initiated a drill program to test those areas on the Armit and Erwood blocks identified as anomalous.  Further drilling on targets identified on the Manitoba blocks of the Saskatoba project will be drill tested following receipt of requisite permits.
